Talisker 10 Years Old alongside Bolívar Belicosos Finos
The peppery malt from Skye alongside a full-bodied Cuban pyramid. Pepper against pepper, with salt in between.

From the shelf
The bottle
Talisker is the distillery on the Isle of Skye. This ten-year-old matured in oak casks and is bottled at 45.8 volume percent. The nose is seaweed, pepper and peat; on the palate, syrup and honey against chilli pepper and salt, with a long finish of fruit and peat.
The combination
Why this works together
A belicoso tapers towards the head, so the smoke comes through a narrower opening and arrives more concentrated. That makes the pepper of the wrapper sharper than with a straight size. Pepper alongside pepper could turn flat, but the salt and syrup in the whisky offer a counterpoint.
Beside the glass
The cigar
We do not sell cigars; we supply the whisky. These cigars go well alongside this bottle.

- Bolívar Belicosos Finos Cuban pyramid of full weight, earthy and spicy; pepper against the pepper of Skye.
- Montecristo No. 2 The best-known Cuban pyramid, medium to full; a little rounder and therefore the calmer choice.
- Partagás Serie P No. 2 Full-bodied pyramid with the earthy house style of Partagás.
- Romeo y Julieta Belicosos Same size, woodier and more floral, which gives the salt in the whisky more room.
In the glass
Serving
Neat in a tulip-shaped glass. At 45.8 percent ABV a few drops of water bring out the syrup, which helps against this cigar. Drink each time after the smoke has left the mouth.
