Spiced rum, and what that is
Spiced rum is rum to which spices are added after distilling: vanilla, cinnamon, clove and whatever else the house wants to put in. Captain Morgan is the best-known example, and for many people the first rum they ever drank.
We have seven on the shelf, from the regular Spiced Gold in two sizes to the Black Spiced and the Private Stock. For a cola or a ginger beer, this is the logical bottle.

Henry Morgan was a Welsh privateer who attacked Spanish possessions in the Caribbean in the seventeenth century, with the permission of the English crown. In 1671 he was knighted; later he became lieutenant governor of Jamaica. That is the man on the bottle.
The brand itself is much younger: Seagram started it in 1944, in Jamaica. Since 2001 it has belonged to Diageo. Production moved from Jamaica to Puerto Rico and in 2012 to St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands.
The base rum is made from molasses and is aged in oak for up to about a year. Then the spices are added and it is diluted to bottling strength.

What these bottles go with
Spiced Gold with cola or ginger beer is what this rum is made for; the spices and the sweetness hold their own there.
The Black Spiced is the heavier version. The Private Stock is the bottle you are more likely to pour neat.
