A rum from the Daily Dram series
Daily Dram is a bottling series best known for whisky. This edition contains no whisky but rum: a fifteen-year-old Foursquare from Barbados, distilled in 2006 and bottled at 55.9 percent.
Foursquare is one of the distilleries that rum lovers talk about. The fact that this bottle was finished in a Sauternes cask (a sweet white wine from Bordeaux) makes it just a little different from the regular bottlings.

The nose is robust, with notes of vanilla and rum raisin (think Dutch boerenjongens) and lightly spiced. On the palate these flavours return strongly; the rich, sweet notes from the Sauternes cask reinforce them, and a butterscotch flavour also comes forward.
The mouthfeel is pleasantly oily. The finish is full and rich and lingers medium long.
At 55.9 percent this is not a bottle to pour carelessly. A few drops of water open it up further; try it neat first and only then add some.
