One cask, nothing more
This is a single cask bottling: everything there is came from one cask. No blend across several casks to make it taste the same year after year. What was in the cask is in the bottle.
The rum itself is a single blended Caribbean rum, which means it contains both column and pot still rum from one and the same distillery. Molasses-based, distilled at Angostura in Trinidad & Tobago.

From Trinidad to Speyside
- The journey of this rum
- TrinidadDistilled at Angostura, from molasses.
- About 6 yearsTropical ageing on site
- ScotlandTransferred to a hybrid ex-Speyside cask.
- 18 monthsLength of that finish.
There is no age on the label; formally this is a NAS bottling. The bottler does state that the rum matured tropically for about six years in Trinidad before going to Scotland.
There it spent another eighteen months in a modified, hybrid cask that previously held Speyside whisky. Tropical ageing is much faster than Scottish; six years in Trinidad leaves more of a mark than six years in Scotland.
The result, bottled at 43 percent, is described as rich and fruity: good neat, but also fine with your favourite mixer.
Six years tropical, eighteen months Scottish.
What this bottle goes with
A single cask is finite by definition. When this cask is empty, there will be no second bottle of exactly the same rum.
If you come from the whisky corner and want to try rum, a bottle with a Speyside finish is a logical first step. Our whisky brands have their own overview.
Call 0570 541 278 or drop in at Brink 2 in Bathmen if you would like to talk it over.
