A blend that explores different angles
Marlin Spike Blended Aged is built up from rums three to five years old from Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago. That combination yields unusually fruity, yet spicy aromas.
For extra depth, an aged pot still rum from Jamaica has been added, and for freshness a Latin American rum. So four corners of the rum world, in one bottle.

Every rum-producing country has its own signature. Barbados is known for balance, Jamaica for heavy pot still notes rich in esters, and Latin American rum is generally softer and rounder.
A blend that draws from all those corners has to bring those differences into balance. In this bottle that has been done by letting the Barbados and Trinidad rum form the base and using the Jamaican and the Latin American as accents.
The description calls it a tour de force. We would say that this is a blend in which you meet several styles at once, and that makes it interesting to taste alongside a single-style rum.
