Why here

One name, three houses

The name Singleton does not stand for a distillery. From 2006, Diageo deliberately released three different single malts under the same brand name, each with its own flavour profile: Glen Ord on the Black Isle in the Highlands, and Dufftown and Glendullan in Speyside.

What is in the bottle always comes from one distillery. A Singleton is therefore not a blend of the three, even if the distillery name is a little less prominent on recent labels.

About the brand

Why there are three

  • The three side by side
  • Glen OrdBlack Isle, Highlands. Went to Asia, from 2006.
  • DufftownSpeyside. Went to Europe, from 2006.
  • GlendullanSpeyside. Went to North America, from 2008.
  • From 2015The division was abandoned.

Diageo initially divided the three versions strictly by continent. Glen Ord went to Asia and was introduced in Taiwan in 2006, Dufftown to Europe, and Glendullan to North America from 2008. Anyone who bought a Singleton here at the time therefore automatically got Dufftown.

From around 2015, Diageo let go of that split and all three became more widely available. That each continent had its own version is now history, not the current situation, even though it is still often told that way.

The name is older than the current brand. It was first used for the single malt of Auchroisk, because that name was considered unpronounceable outside Scotland.

Three distilleries, three flavour profiles, one name on the bottle.

Practical

Which Singleton for whom

If you want to compare, put two versions side by side. The difference between a Highland malt from Glen Ord and a Speysider from Dufftown is exactly what this brand is about.

Would you rather drop by first before you choose? The whisky shelf at Brink 2 is simply open to you.
