Brand and bottler are not the same thing here
Velvet Cap is an Irish brand name that was brought back into use by Blackwater Distillery in 2020. The whiskey underneath is a blend of sourced malt and grain whiskey.
In February 2025 the brand was sold to RoCo Brands. Blackwater still bottles it, so brand and bottler are not the same party here. That is good to know if you come across names on the label that seem to contradict each other.
The bottles we have in stock
A triple cask, a peated one and a five-year-old with Bordeaux cask finish.

Velvet Cap contains a blend of sourced malt and grain whiskey. Blackwater Distillery does distil itself, but this brand is built from distillate made elsewhere.
That is more common in Ireland than it sounds. The number of distilleries has grown rapidly in recent years, but mature whiskey does not appear overnight. Many young houses therefore first release sourced whiskey under their own name.
The three versions differ in cask: a triple cask, a peated version and one finished in Bordeaux casks.
The brand has been sold, the bottler stayed.
What these bottles go with
For those who want to explore Irish whiskey beyond the big names.
A peated version is less common in Ireland than in Scotland; that makes it interesting to put next to it.
