The vodka of a Scottish brewer
BrewDog is known for its beer, but it also has a distillery in Ellon. Abstrakt is the vodka line that comes from there. The brand says it distils five times in its own copper pot still, followed by a nineteen-metre rectification column; according to the distillery the whole process takes seven days.

What is a rectification column?
A tall column in which the vapour rises once more after distilling. The higher the vapour climbs, the cleaner the distillate. BrewDog uses one of nineteen metres.

BrewDog Distilling Co. is the spirits arm of the Scottish brewer. The distillery is in Ellon, in Aberdeenshire, in the same place as the brewery.
For Abstrakt the company, by its own account, uses the first triple bubble copper pot still in the world, combined with a nineteen-metre rectification column. Distillation takes place five times; the process takes seven days.
Besides the Original, the line includes variants with marshmallow and vanilla, raspberry and lime, and watermelon and strawberry. We have two of them on the shelf.
Abstrakt is distilled in Ellon, in the same town as BrewDog’s beer.
Original or Marshmallow & Vanilla?
The Original is the unflavoured bottle of the two and the logical choice if you are looking for a vodka that behaves like vodka in a cocktail.
The Marshmallow & Vanilla is the flavoured bottle and is at 38 percent instead of 40.
