Why here

Vodka from Scotland, made from sugar beet

Most people know Scotland for whisky, not vodka. Yet Glen’s comes from there: from Catrine in East Ayrshire, where the Loch Lomond Group distils and bottles it. The raw material is sugar beet, which is a minority choice in vodka country. Grain and potato are far more common.

We have it in three sizes, from the 35 cl bottle up to the litre. It is always the same vodka at forty percent. If you are not sure which size you need, give us a call. That is what we are here for.

The range

The same vodka in three sizes

All three at forty percent alcohol; only the volume differs.

About the brand

From Grant’s to Glen’s

  • The brand in brief
  • 1972The vodka appears, then still under the name Grant’s Vodka.
  • 2003After a trademark dispute it returns as Glen’s Vodka.
  • 2014The brand then ranks second among best-selling spirits in the United Kingdom.
  • CatrineDistilled and bottled in Catrine, East Ayrshire.
  • sugar beetThe raw material, where most vodkas use grain or potato.

Glen’s has existed longer than its name. The vodka appeared in 1972 as Grant’s Vodka and got a different name in 2003 after a trademark dispute arose over it. Since then it has been called Glen’s.

The brand belongs to the Loch Lomond Group and is made in Catrine, a village in East Ayrshire. That is not the group's whisky distillery, but the bottling plant and distillery where the spirits side of the company is based.

The raw material is sugar beet. For vodka that is a minority choice: most brands work with grain, a smaller share with potato. The brand states that the vodka is distilled three times. In the United Kingdom Glen’s was the second best-selling spirit in mid-2014; in the Netherlands you come across it much less.

Does the base ingredient matter for vodka?

Vodka is distilled so far that little of the raw material remains, so the difference is smaller than with whisky or rum. Yet tasters notice a difference: grain vodka is often described as somewhat sharper, potato vodka as fuller, and sugar beet is somewhere in between. It remains a matter of putting them side by side and tasting for yourself.

Where does Glen’s Vodka come from?

From Scotland. The vodka is distilled and bottled in Catrine in East Ayrshire and belongs to the Loch Lomond Group.

What is Glen’s made from?

Made from sugar beet. That is unusual: most vodkas are made from grain and a smaller share from potato. The brand states that the vodka is distilled three times.
