Why here

Swiss liqueur, not a vodka at full strength

Trojka is often placed with the vodka on the shelf, but the coloured bottles are vodka liqueurs. They are at seventeen to twenty-four percent alcohol instead of the forty percent of an ordinary vodka. That is good to know before you open a bottle: you pour something different from what you would with a bottle of vodka.

Of the five Trojkas we carry, four are available immediately at the moment. If you are not sure which one you need, just give us a call. That is what we are here for.

All four 70 centilitres. Three at seventeen percent, the Caramel at twenty-four.

  • The brand in brief
  • 1994DIWISA releases the first Trojka: Trojka Vodka Pure Grain.
  • 1995Trojka Red is released, the brand’s first vodka liqueur.
  • 2015The brand is then on sale not only in Switzerland but also in Belgium, the Netherlands and Austria.
  • WillisauDIWISA Distillerie Willisau in the canton of Lucerne makes Trojka.
  • more than tenThe number of flavour variants the brand carries.

Trojka belongs to DIWISA Distillerie Willisau, a Swiss distilling company in the canton of Lucerne. The first bottle came out in 1994: Trojka Vodka Pure Grain, a pure vodka. A year later Trojka Red followed, and with that began the series of colored bottles the brand is now mainly known for.

That range has since grown to well over ten variants. What they have in common is that it is no longer vodka in the legal sense, but vodka liqueur: it contains flavour and sugar and the alcohol percentage is lower. The brand positions itself as ‘the easy mixer’: a drink meant for mixing rather than serving neat.

Outside Switzerland, Trojka is mainly found in Belgium, the Netherlands and Austria. By Dutch standards, that makes it a brand you do know but that few shops stock across the full range.

Vodka or vodka liqueur?

In the European Union, vodka must contain at least 37.5 percent alcohol and may hardly be sweetened. As soon as sugar and flavour are added and the percentage drops, it is called liqueur. The coloured Trojkas fall into that second category. In practice it means: sweeter, softer and lower in alcohol than what you pour from a bottle of vodka.

Frequently asked questions about Trojka

How many Trojka does ’t Bockje have in stock?

Five bottles in our range, four of which are available immediately: Vodka Pink, Orange, Caramel and Pink Cream. The Trojka Green is currently at zero; give us a call if you are looking for it.

Is Trojka vodka or liqueur?

The coloured bottles are vodka liqueur. Vodka must contain at least 37.5 percent alcohol in the European Union and may be barely sweetened; the Trojkas we carry are at seventeen to twenty-four percent and are sweetened. The brand did start in 1994 with a pure vodka, the Trojka Vodka Pure Grain.

Where is Trojka made?

At DIWISA Distillerie Willisau in the canton of Lucerne, Switzerland.

How much alcohol is in Trojka?

Of the bottles we stock, Vodka Pink, Orange and Pink Cream are at 17% vol and the Caramel at 24% vol.

What is the difference between Trojka Pink and Trojka Pink Cream?

Both are at 17 percent. The Pink is clear and based on red fruit; the Pink Cream is the cream version of it and therefore thicker in texture.
