Why here

Potatoes from the Eifel, a cask of ash wood

Windspiel comes from the Vulkaneifel in Germany. The manufactory is at the Weilerhof near Berlingen and works with potatoes from its own land.

This Barrel Aged uses the starch-rich potato variety Pirol. Distilling takes place under the direction of distilling master Holger Borchers; the alcohol is distilled three times.

The vodka then spends a number of months in ash wood casks. That is unusual for vodka: most vodka goes into the bottle unaged.

Windspiel Manufaktur was founded by Sandra Wimmeler, Denis Lönnendonker, Rebecca Mertes and Tobias Schwoll. Besides this vodka, the house makes a dry gin, an herbal liqueur and tonic, among other things.

The name refers to Frederick the Great. With his potato edict of 1746 he put the potato on the map in Germany, and he kept Italian greyhounds. Such a dog appears in the logo.
