Buy Weizen at ’t Bockje Bathmen

That does not come from fruit but from the yeast. During fermentation, German weizen yeast produces compounds that smell exactly like banana and clove. The warmer the fermentation, the more pronounced this becomes.

Weizen is brewed with at least half wheat, which gives a full, soft mouthfeel and a sturdy head of foam. The beer is cloudy because the yeast stays in it.

Use a tall weizen glass and pour slowly; the head is part of it and holds the aroma.

The banana in a weizen comes from the yeast, not from fruit. Pure chemistry in the glass.
