One recipe, five directions
Filliers works from one recipe with twenty-eight botanicals and varies on it: red fruit, mandarin, an oak-aged version and a tribute to the original 1928 composition.
It is also a house with a long track record: the family has been distilling genever in East Flanders since 1880, and that craftsmanship is in the gin. From the same distillery we also stock whisky. Not sure which one you need? Give us a call. That is what we are here for.

Filliers has been distilling since 1880 in Bachte-Maria-Leerne near Deinze, on the banks of the Leie. It began as a farm distillery making jenever, and that craftsmanship is the foundation of everything made there today.
The gin dates from 1928, when Firmin Filliers put together a recipe with twenty-eight botanicals. That number has become the name. For a gin from that era that is strikingly many; most recipes stayed at around eight.
The house also makes whisky and in 2007 was the first Belgian distillery to mature whisky in cask.
Twenty-eight herbs in a recipe from 1928, at a time when most gins used eight.

Five bottles: the Dry Gin 28, the pink version, the tangerine, a cask-aged gin and the 1928 Tribute.
What does the number 28 stand for?
For two things at once: the number of botanicals in the recipe, and the year 1928 in which Firmin Filliers devised that recipe.
Does Filliers also make whisky?
Yes. In 2007 the house was the first Belgian distillery to mature whisky in cask. We stock eight bottles of it.
Which Filliers should you try first?
The regular Dry Gin 28. The tangerine and the pink versions are especially nice in a long drink; the barrel aged is better drunk neat.
