Why here

A sherry house with an English wink

MOM is a brand of González Byass, the Spanish family company from Jerez that has existed since 1835 and is best known for the sherry Tío Pepe. The name God Save The Gin is a pun on the British national anthem.

The gin is distilled four times and then infused with red fruit; that gives the bottle its colour. At 39.5 percent it is a light gin.

About the brand

What is and is not established

  • The bottle at a glance
  • González ByassThe owner, from Jerez.
  • 1835The founding year of that house.
  • 4xDistilled.
  • 39,5%Alcohol percentage.

González Byass is one of the big names of Jerez: sherry, brandy and, for many years now, other spirits as well. MOM belongs to that house and was set up as an English-style gin, with a name that openly plays on that.

Where exactly the gin is distilled is given in various places as Great Britain, but we have not been able to establish a distillery name. We therefore leave that open.

What is certain: four distillations, an infusion with red fruit and 39.5 percent in the bottle.

A Spanish sherry house that makes a gin with a British wink.

Practical

What this bottle goes with

A light gin with red fruit works well in a long gin and tonic with plenty of ice, and in cocktails where the gin does not need to dominate.

This is not the bottle for a dry Martini; it is too light and too fruity for that.
