Why here

A short list of spices with fruit behind it

The base gin from Mombasa Club works with four botanicals: juniper, coriander, angelica and cassia bark. That is a short list, which leaves room for whatever comes after.

In this edition that is strawberry and red fruit, infused after the third distillation. At 37.5 percent it is a light bottle.

About the name

Where the name comes from

  • The bottle at a glance
  • 4Botanicals in the base gin.
  • 3xDistilled.
  • 37,5%Alcohol percentage.
  • 70 clBottle size.

The name refers to the Mombasa Club, a social club founded in 1885 in the Kenyan port city of Mombasa by British colonial officials. That is the historical reference on the label; it says nothing about where this gin comes from.

We have not been able to establish with certainty who makes the gin nowadays. We therefore only state what is certain: four botanicals in the base, three distillations and an infusion with strawberry and red fruit.

There is also a regular Mombasa Club at 41.5 percent, which is distilled four times. We currently have the strawberry edition in stock.

The name comes from a club founded in 1885, not from the place of origin.

Practical

What this bottle goes with

A light strawberry gin works well in a long gin and tonic with plenty of ice, and in fruity cocktails where the gin doesn’t need to dominate.

This is not the bottle for a Martini or a Negroni; it is too light and too fruity for that.

Call 0570 541 278 or drop in at Brink 2 in Bathmen if you would like to talk it over.
