A brand that started on an island
Nobels is known for Nobeltje, the liqueur that originated behind the bar of café Nobel in Ballum on Ameland. The company is still owned by the same family, now in its fourth generation.
The gin is a later addition to that range. It is not distilled on the island but at Herman Jansen in Schiedam.

The story of Nobels begins at the start of the twentieth century in café Nobel in Ballum on Ameland, where the family poured its own liqueur. That liqueur became Nobeltje and remained a household name on the island.
Since the 1980s distilling is no longer done at home but in Schiedam, at Herman Jansen, one of the old names of the jenever city. The brand stayed in family hands.
Besides juniper, the house names cranberry as a characteristic ingredient; the rest of the recipe it keeps to itself.
Started behind the bar of a village pub on Ameland.
What this bottle goes with
At 37.5 percent this is one of the lighter gins on our shelf. That makes it approachable in a gin and tonic, but less suitable for cocktails in which the gin has to stand up to other strong ingredients.
If you know Nobeltje from the island, this is the bottle that goes with it.
