The glass for the IPA
Of Martin’s we stock one glass: the 33 centilitre IPA glass. It goes with the Martin’s IPA, the beer of this brand that is on our shelf.
With an IPA everything revolves around hops, and hops are mainly aroma. Glasses that narrow slightly towards the top keep that aroma together until your nose is in it; a straight glass lets it escape. That is why brewers often have their own model made for their IPA.

What an IPA asks of a glass
- The glass in brief
- 33 clThe capacity of the glass.
- IPAThe beer the glass is meant for.
- Beer glassThe category we list it under.
- BelgiumWhere the beer comes from.
Martin’s is a Belgian beer brand. We have one beer of it on the shelf: the Martin’s IPA.
IPA stands for India Pale Ale. What characterises the style is the hop: bitter, with notes that can range from citrus to resin. Those notes are in volatile oils, and volatile means they are quickly gone.
So do not serve an IPA ice cold (the colder the beer, the less of it you smell) and use a glass that holds the aroma instead of letting it escape.
Grease is the enemy of foam
Rinse a beer glass with hot water free of detergent residue, and don't dry it with a towel washed with fabric softener. Grease residue makes the head collapse within a minute. That is the most common reason beer foams differently at home than in the pub.
What to know before you order
The glass is sold individually; a set is not needed. For larger quantities, it is best to give us a call.
The volume is 33 centilitres. We do not stock other sizes of Martin’s.

Frequently asked questions about the Martin’s glass
How many centilitres does the Martin’s IPA glass hold?
33 centilitres. That is the only size we have of Martin’s.
Can I order a single glass?
Yes. The glass is sold individually, so you order exactly the number you need.
Why does an IPA have its own glass?
Because an IPA relies above all on hop aroma. A glass that narrows slightly towards the top keeps that aroma together; from a straight glass it disappears faster.
Can the glass go in the dishwasher?
We have no information from the manufacturer on that, so we make no promises. In any case, rinse beer glasses so that no detergent residue remains: grease breaks down the head.
Can I collect the glass in Bathmen?
Yes. You can always order online or collect at Brink 2, or simply drop in during opening hours.
