Why here

The same beer, two very different glasses

Palm goes with not one glass but several. We have two, both 33 centilitres, and they look completely different.

The Royale footed glass goes with Palm Royale and stands on a stem. The toogglas is the model you see on the bar in a Flemish café; toog is the word for the bar there.

You order them individually. If you have lost one from a set, there is no need to buy six more.

The two glasses we stock

Both 33 centilitres, both orderable individually.

What the glass is for

Palm from Steenhuffel

  • The beer in brief
  • SteenhuffelThe Belgian village where Palm is brewed.
  • Special BelgeThe beer style to which Palm belongs.
  • Top fermentationArthur Van Roy chose the old Brabant way of brewing.
  • Palm Royale7.5 percent, brewed for the ninetieth birthday of Alfred Van Roy.

Palm is brewed in Steenhuffel. The beer is counted among the Special Belge, and Arthur Van Roy chose to brew it in the old Brabant way with top fermentation instead of with the newer methods of his time.

Palm Royale is the stronger version at 7.5 percent, originally brewed for Alfred Van Roy's ninetieth birthday and previously known as Royal Van Roy Ale. The footed glass on this page goes with that bottle.

Which glass

Stemmed glass or bar glass?

The Royale footed glass stands on a stem. That means your hand does not warm the beer, and the glass looks a little more solemn on the table. Fitting for the stronger Royale.

The tavern glass has no stem and is the model used in the pub: easy to grip, easy to wash, easy to stack in the cupboard.

Not sure? Call 0570 541 278 or email info@bockje.nl. We'll take both off the shelf for you.
