Why here

Just the glass, because that is usually what you have lost

Of all beer glasses, this one breaks most often. The wooden holder stays intact; the glass breaks. And then you are left with an empty stand in the cupboard.

That is why we stock the single glass. Without holder, exactly as the name says: you only buy the glass and put it in the holder you already have.

You order it per piece. If you have several holders, simply order more.

The glass we have in stock

Can be ordered singly, without wooden holder.

What the glass is for

The glass that hangs in a holder

  • The glass in brief
  • Its own shapeThe Kwak glass has a shape no other beer glass has.
  • Wooden holderIn bars and cafés the glass hangs upright in a wooden stand.
  • BuggenhoutBrouwerij Bosteels brews Pauwel Kwak in this Belgian village.
  • The 1980sThe beer and the glass only came onto the market in those years.

The Kwak glass has its own shape that you will not find with any other beer, and it is held upright by a wooden stand. That is the image the beer is known for.

The brewery tells a story with it: innkeeper Pauwel Kwak is said to have devised the glass in the early eighteenth century for coachmen who stopped at his inn and brewery De Hoorn. That story is historically disputed. The beer and the glass only came onto the market in the 1980s. So we tell it as it is: a nice story from the brewery, not an established fact.

Pauwel Kwak is brewed by brewery Bosteels in Buggenhout.

Is the wooden holder included?

No. This item is expressly the glass without holder. You only buy the glass, intended as a replacement for a broken one in a holder you already have.

Does ’t Bockje have the single Kwak glass in stock?

Yes. It is in our shop at Brink 2 in Bathmen and can also be ordered online.

Do I get one glass or a set?

You buy per piece. The glass is listed in the online shop as a single item, so you can also order just one.

Can I have a single glass delivered?

Yes. You can have it delivered or collect it in Bathmen. We ship to around forty countries.

Why does this glass come with a wooden holder?

Is the story about the coachman true?

The brewery says that innkeeper Pauwel Kwak devised the glass in the early eighteenth century for coachmen. That story is historically disputed: the beer and the glass only came onto the market in the 1980s.
