Ingredients
- 4 herrings
- 1 onion
- sweet and sour gherkins
Method
- Finely chop the onion and slice the gherkins.
- Keep the herring well chilled until just before serving.
- Cut the herring into pieces or serve it whole, with the onions and the gherkin alongside.
With the mealBratwurst with sauerkraut
Ingredients
- 4 bratwursts
- 800 grams of sauerkraut
- 1 onion
- 1 apple
- 1 kilo potatoes
- 2 tablespoons of mustard
Method
- Peel the potatoes and boil them in salted water for 20 minutes until tender.
- Fry the chopped onion in butter, add the sauerkraut, the grated apple and a splash of water and braise everything, covered, for 20 minutes.
- Fry the bratwursts in butter over a medium-high heat for 15 to 20 minutes until browned all over and cooked through.
- Serve the sausage with the sauerkraut, the potatoes and the mustard.
With the cheeseLeyden cumin cheese
Ingredients
- 160 grams of Leyden cumin cheese
Method
- Take the cheese out of the fridge about an hour before serving; that brings out the flavour best.
- Only cut or break the cheese just before serving.
