Why here

The horse on the bottle

In Venezuela, Pampero has been known for decades as Caballito Frenaío: the rearing horse on the label. The brand has existed since 1938 and is as much a given there as Bacardí once was in Cuba.

The Aniversario stands out for its packaging: a leather pouch around the bottle, tied with a cord. You will see it in many a cabinet long after the contents are gone.

  • 3xNumber of distillations.

Pampero was founded in 1938 by Alejandro Hernández and is made in Ocumare del Tuy, in the Venezuelan state of Miranda. The cane grows in the same region.

The brand was owned by Diageo from 1991 to 2024 and was then sold to the Italian Gruppo Montenegro. The rum is distilled three times and matures in various types of cask.

The name refers to the pampero, the wind that sweeps across the South American plains.

In Venezuela it is simply called the rearing horse.
