Two years instead of an age
These bottles do not state an age but two years: the year the rum was distilled and the year it was bottled. The brand leaves the arithmetic to you, but you know exactly where you stand.
It also states what part of the ageing took place in Europe. Rum that lies in the tropics ages faster and evaporates more; rum that matures further in Europe goes more slowly. That ratio determines how the bottle turns out, and here it is simply stated.

Transcontinental Rum Line is the rum range of La Maison du Whisky, the French house that Georges Bénitah started in Paris in 1956. The range has existed since 2016.
The name refers to the shipping routes by which rum used to reach Europe. That is more than a story: the rum is actually partly aged further in Europe, in casks from French and Scottish coopers.
What is on the label is unusually complete: country, distillery, distillation year, bottling year and the share of European maturation. Some bottlings come at cask strength, others at 46 percent.
No age on the label, but the distillation year and the bottling year.
Where best to start
Panama and Barbados are the most approachable of the series; Jamaica is the most pronounced.
The Guyana 2002 comes from Demerara Distillers, the distillery with the wooden stills. If you already know that style, this is the bottle to compare with.
