Wyborowa comes from Poznań, in western Poland. The name is the feminine form of the Polish adjective wyborowy: select.
The vodka is made from rye and distilled in two steps. About three kilos of rye are needed for a litre of spirit.
Exports to other European countries began as early as 1873. In 1927 Wyborowa became the first vodka brand with an internationally registered trademark. After the economic problems of the early nineties the factory passed into the hands of the French Pernod Ricard.
Wyborowa is Polish for ‘selected’.
Rye instead of wheat
Much vodka is distilled from wheat or potato. Wyborowa uses rye; about three kilos of it are needed for a litre of spirit. The alcohol percentage of the bottle we have in stock is 37.5 percent and is printed on the label.
