Zoladkowa is known in the Netherlands mainly for its amber bottle: the Gorzka Traditional, infused with herbs and spices. We also have the de Luxe, the clear variant from the same house.

What does the name mean?
Żołądkowa Gorzka is Polish and literally means ‘bitter stomach vodka’. Gorzka stands for bitter; the Traditional owes that designation to the herb blend in the recipe.

Żołądkowa Gorzka appeared in 1950 and comes from Lublin, in eastern Poland. The bottle is made by Stock Polska, which grew out of the state distillery Polmos Lublin.
The Traditional is amber-coloured and infused with a blend of herbs and spices; that is how you recognise the bottle on the shelf.
In the years that followed, variants were added: with mint in 2005, with honey in 2006, with bison grass in 2009 and with black cherry in 2014. In 2007 the clear Czysta de Luxe appeared, which in 2012 ranked ninth among the best-selling vodkas in the world.
Gorzka is Polish for bitter. The Traditional owes that name to the herb blend in the recipe.
The difference between the two bottles
The Gorzka Traditional is the herbal variant: amber-coloured, 34 percent. The de Luxe is the clear variant from the same house: colourless, 40 percent. Both 70 cl.
