Two Chefs Brewing was set up by Sanne Slijper and Martijn Disseldorp. They met in a kitchen and both worked as chefs. That is where the name comes from. They started brewing at home and then rented kettles at other breweries, until, with the help of crowdfunding, they were able to set up their own brewery on the Moezelhavenweg, in the western port area of Amsterdam. On its own website the brewery maintains that it has been brewing since 2012.
That kitchen background is reflected in how they work: first decide where a beer should go, then choose the malt, hops and yeast accordingly. There is a core range, with Funky Falcon the best known: a pale ale that is also exported. Alongside that, one-off brews are added continually. Each beer gets its own character on the can, with a story to go with it.
On the Hugo de Grootplein in Amsterdam they have a taproom with sixteen taps and a restaurant; the brewery itself is not open to visitors. Since 2022 the beer has been canned instead of bottled.
