About this bottle
Het Gildeglas werd in 1930 ontworpen door Andries Copier voor de glasfabriek in Leerdam. De serie geldt als een van de bekendste Nederlandse glasontwerpen van de twintigste eeuw: sober en strak van vorm.

Glas wordt in Leerdam al sinds 1765 gemaakt. Royal Leerdam ontstond in 1878 als afdeling van die fabriek en werd later bekend door de met een Oscar bekroonde film Glas van Bert Haanstra uit 1958.
Dit cognacglas van 25 cl volgt de klassieke vorm: breed onderin en smaller naar boven. Het brede deel geeft de drank een groot oppervlak, de smallere rand houdt de geur in het glas. Wordt het glas in de hand gehouden, dan warmt de cognac rustig op.
