About this bottle
Straffe Hendrik wordt gebrouwen door Brouwerij De Halve Maan, aan het Walplein midden in Brugge. Leon Maes begon daar in 1856 een brouwerij, en de familie brouwt er inmiddels in de zesde generatie.

Straffe Hendrik kwam er in 1981, het jaar waarin Véronique Maes in de brouwerij begon, een van de allereerste vrouwelijke brouwers. Sinds 2016 loopt er onder de Brugse binnenstad een bierleiding van ruim drie kilometer, van de brouwerij naar de bottelarij.
The 33 cl goblet is a footed glass with a generous bowl, the classic shape for strong Belgian beers. The foot keeps the hand off the beer and the wide opening lets the aroma out well.
