A glass you won't find sold singly anywhere else is sold singly here
The dragon's egg is a glass people come in to replace. One has fallen over, or you have two and want four. With us you don't need to buy a box of six for that: you order one.
It is also a glass that collectors look for, because its shape differs so much from any other beer glass. We currently have seven of them on the Brink in Bathmen.
Glass on its own or complete with beer
Two ways to bring the dragon's egg home: the glass on its own, or the gift pack it comes in.

Why it is called a dragon's egg
- The glass in four points
- The bowlRound, like an egg resting in an egg cup.
- The footA sturdy foot with a rock-like pattern.
- The ideaA dragon's egg lying on a rock, after the legend of the gilded dragon.
- Van SteenbergeThe brewery in Ertvelde, East Flanders, that had the glass developed.
Most beer glasses are a variation on the same shape: a flared glass, a chalice or a tankard. The dragon's egg is not. The bowl is round and closed, so it looks more like an egg than a glass, and it stands on a short foot moulded with a rock-like pattern.
That is no coincidence. The design refers to the legend of the gilded dragon: a dragon's egg resting on a rock. It is the glass that brewery Van Steenberge in Ertvelde had made for the Gulden Draak beers, and whatever beer you pour into it, it is known as “the dragon's egg”.
In practice, that round shape has a consequence: the opening is narrower than on an ordinary chalice. Pouring a 33 centilitre bottle in one go therefore calls for a gentler pour than with a wide glass.
Glass on its own or the pack with beer?
Just the glass. If you already have the beer at home, or if you are missing one from your set. Can be ordered individually, no minimum.
The gift pack. If it is meant as a present and the glass should come complete with beer. There is currently one left.
Not sure which size you need or how much it holds? Call 0570 541 278 or email info@bockje.nl. We will take the glass off the shelf and measure it.
