Glendronach 12 Years Old alongside Montecristo No. 2
A Highland malt that matured entirely in sherry casks, beside the best-known Cuban pyramid. Raisin and spice against cocoa and pepper.

From the shelf
The bottle
Glendronach lies in the Highlands. This twelve-year-old single malt matured in sherry casks and is bottled at 43% ABV. The colour is amber with red gold. The nose brings vanilla, ginger and spiced wine; on the palate it is silky smooth with sherry, raisins and spices.
The combination
Why this works together
A pyramid tapers towards the head. As a result the smoke arrives more concentrated than with a straight size, and the pepper of the wrapper becomes sharper. Montecristo puts cocoa underneath. Against a malt that draws its whole character from the sherry cask, that pepper is the counterweight and the cocoa the connection.
Beside the glass
The cigar
We do not sell cigars; we supply the whisky. These cigars go well alongside this bottle.

- Montecristo No. 2 Cuban pyramid of 156 mm, cocoa and pepper, set against the raisin and spiciness from the sherry cask.
- Romeo y Julieta Belicosos Pyramid of 140 mm, shorter and more floral, which gives the vanilla in the whisky more room.
- Partagás Serie P No. 2 Pyramid of 156 mm with the earthy house style of Partagás, heavier in tone.
- Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 1 Corona gorda of 143 mm without a tapered head, milder and calmer in character.
In the glass
Serving
Neat in a tulip-shaped glass. At 43 percent ABV water is not needed. Taste first without smoke, so that you can place the sherry on its own, and then drink in the pauses between the puffs.
