The bottle

Glenfiddich is located in Speyside. This bottling is twelve years old and bottled at 40% ABV; the colour is gold. The nose is lightly floral and fresh, with malt, honey and citrus. On the palate it is lightly sweet with flowers, malt, spices and fruit, and a soft finish with a hint of peat and oak.

Why this works together

A petit corona of 102 mm is the shortest size Montecristo makes. Little tobacco burns at a time, so the smoke stays light and the cigar is finished within half an hour. That suits a malt of 40 per cent ABV: a longer or thicker cigar would simply push aside the floral character.

Serving

Neat in a tulip-shaped glass, without ice. At 40 percent ABV water is not needed. Drink it in the pauses between the draws, not during them.
