American bourbon by a Scottish bottler
It is not often that a Scottish independent bottler like Cadenhead bottles a Kentucky cask. This twelve-year-old is an example of that.

Still owned by the same family
- Heaven Hill in four facts
- 1935the Shapira family begins, together with Joseph L. Beam.
- Bardstownwhere the head office and the warehouses are.
- Bernheimthe distillery in Louisville where distilling now takes place.
- 1996a fire costs the house about 90,000 casks.
Heaven Hill was founded in 1935 by the Shapira family, together with Joseph L. Beam of the well-known distilling family. The company is still privately owned and in the hands of the Shapira family, which is unusual in an industry where almost everything has been bought up.
The head office and ageing warehouses are in Bardstown, Kentucky. After the great fire of 1996, in which about ninety thousand barrels were lost, distillation moved to Bernheim in Louisville.
The grain mix for the standard bourbon consists of about seventy-eight percent corn, ten percent rye and twelve percent malted barley. Under the Heaven Hill umbrella fall well-known brands such as Evan Williams, Elijah Craig, Larceny and Henry McKenna.
One of the last big bourbon houses still owned by a family.
