Why here

Bourbon and rye side by side

Knob Creek is one of the bottles with which small-batch bourbon was put on the map in the 1990s: matured longer and bottled at a higher strength than usual.

We have the nine-year-old bourbon and the straight rye. Not sure which one you need? Give us a call. That is what we are here for.

The bottles

Two bottles, both at 100 proof.

About the brand

Why 100 proof

  • Knob Creek in four facts
  • 1992Booker Noe launches Knob Creek as part of the Small Batch Collection.
  • Clermontthe James B. Beam distillery in Kentucky.
  • 9 yearsthe ageing of regular bourbon; the federal minimum is two.
  • 100 proof50 percent, against a minimum of 80 proof.

Knob Creek was conceived in 1992 by Booker Noe, grandson of Jim Beam, as part of the Small Batch Bourbon Collection. The idea was to return to the way bourbon was made before Prohibition: matured longer and bottled at a higher strength.

The name comes from Knob Creek Farm, the farm in Kentucky where Abraham Lincoln spent part of his youth. The whiskey is distilled at James B. Beam in Clermont, Kentucky.

The regular bourbon matures for nine years and goes into the bottle at one hundred proof (fifty percent). The federal minimum for straight bourbon is two years and eighty proof. You taste that difference immediately. Alongside the bourbon there is a straight rye, also at one hundred proof.

Nine years and a hundred proof, where two years and eighty would already be enough.
