J&B stands for Justerini & Brooks, a London wine and spirits house founded in 1749 by Giacomo Justerini, originally from Bologna, and George Johnson. Since 1761 the house has been a royal supplier, dating from the time of King George III.
J&B Rare is a blend of forty-two different malt and grain whiskies. Among the malts are Knockando, Auchroisk, Strathmill and Glen Spey: all four Speyside distilleries with a light, soft style. That explains why J&B is so approachable.
As with every blend, J&B is not distilled in a distillery of its own: it is a composition of whiskies from several houses.
