Why here

Two single malts from a house that steers by wood

Kinahan’s puts its money on cask work. The brand buys in whiskey and decides itself how it matures further; that is what it wants to be known for.

We have the Heritage and the ten-year-old. Not sure which one you need? Give us a call. That's what we're here for.

The bottles

Two single malts, both at 46 percent.

About the brand

The L·L on the label

  • Kinahan’s in four facts
  • 1779Daniel Kinahan begins in Dublin.
  • 1809from that year the L·L is used for a reserved cask.
  • 1911production is handed over and the name disappears.
  • 2014the brand is being relaunched.

Kinahan’s gives 1779 as its founding year, when Daniel Kinahan started in Dublin. The labels carry the mark L·L, which was used from 1809 to mark a cask reserved for the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. In 1911 production moved to another house and the name disappeared.

In 2014 the brand was relaunched, with its head office in Drogheda in County Louth.

Important to know: Kinahan’s does not distil itself. The brand says it is open about this and buys whiskey from a few Irish distilleries, which it then matures further in its own casks. Which distilleries these are, the house does not disclose.

A name from 1779, a brand from 2014, and whiskey from a different distillery.
