Why here

Six casks, five distilleries

With a bottler, it is all about the casks that happen to be available. We have six from Provenance: Ardmore, Blair Athol, Bunnahabhain, Jura and twice Caol Ila. From young and briny to a fourteen-year-old Highland.

Unlike with many bottlers, the name of the distillery is simply on the label. If you do not know which one you need, give us a call. That is what we are here for.

Three casks from the mainland and Islay

From eight to fourteen years old.

About the series

One cask, and the name with it

  • Provenance in four facts
  • 1948Fred Douglas Laing starts his company in Glasgow.
  • 1cask per bottle: no blend, no batch.
  • March 2018de Coastal Collection gaat van start, op 48 procent.
  • 0added colouring; it is also not chill-filtered.

Provenance is the single-cask series from Douglas Laing, the Glasgow family business founded in 1948 by Fred Douglas Laing. Each bottle comes from one cask: when that is finished, that bottling is gone. It is not chill filtered and no colouring is added.

What sets Provenance apart from many other bottler ranges is that the distillery name is simply printed on it. With ranges like Smokehead, Scarabus or Port Askaig it stays hidden; here you know exactly where the whisky comes from.

Within the series, the Coastal Collection has been running since March 2018, focused on malts with a salty character and always bottled at forty-eight percent. We have a twelve-year-old Jura and a six-year-old Caol Ila from it.

With a single cask, the question is not which brand, but which cask.

Veelgestelde vragen over Provenance

How much Provenance does ’t Bockje have in stock?

Six different bottles from five distilleries: Ardmore, Blair Athol, Bunnahabhain, Jura and two from Caol Ila. All six are available at the moment.

What is Provenance?

Douglas Laing's single cask series from Glasgow. Every bottle comes from one cask, without chill-filtration and without added colouring, with the name of the distillery on the label.

What is the Coastal Collection?

A range within Provenance that began in March 2018 and focuses on malts with a salty, maritime character. Those bottles are bottled at forty-eight percent.

Waarom staat de distilleerderijnaam er wel op?

Because the owner permits that in this case. With other ranges that is not allowed and the bottler invents a replacement name; with Provenance that is not necessary.

Is a single cask better than a regular bottling?

Not necessarily, but different. Nothing is blended in to keep the flavour consistent, so each cask stands on its own. If you like a cask, you need to be quick.

Can I reserve a bottle and collect it in Bathmen?

Dat kan. Bestel online en kies voor ophalen, of bel ons op 0570 541 278 en dan zetten we hem apart. Ophalen aan de Brink 2 is gratis.
