Why here

Five cask finishes on the same smoke

Smokehead is heavily peated and does not tiptoe around it. What makes the brand interesting is what happens to that distillate afterwards: rum, tequila, stout and sherry have each received their own edition. Smoke against a sweet or salty cask always produces something different.

We have thirteen of them, including all five cask finishes, a fifteen-year-old and a gift pack with three sample bottles. Not sure which one you need? Give us a call. That's what we're here for.

Where to start with Smokehead

Four bottles without a cask finish, in four sizes.

About the brand

Smoke without a name on the label

  • Smokehead in three facts
  • Islaythe island where the whisky comes from.
  • 0distillery names on the label.
  • 5cask finishes in stock with us.

A bottle of Smokehead does not name a distillery. That is not carelessness but a choice: the brand buys in peated Islay whisky and releases it under its own name, without revealing the origin. Anyone who wants to know exactly where it comes from will not find out.

What it does have is the smoke, and it is robust. Smokehead sits in the heavier corner of the Islay style, and the brand is built entirely around that: the label, the name and the bottlings leave no room for misunderstanding.

More interesting than the smoke alone are the cask finishes. Rum, tequila, imperial stout and sherry have all been tried. Such a cask sets something sweet or salty against the smoke, and that changes the whole more than you would think.

No distillery on the label, yet no doubt at all about the smoke.

The cask finishes and the older bottles

Nine bottles: five cask finishes, a fifteen-year-old and three other bottlings.

That is not disclosed. The brand buys in peated Islay whisky and releases it under its own name, without revealing the origin.
