Two colours from the same cellar
The Spot whiskeys are single pot still: distilled from malted and unmalted barley, an Irish style that hardly exists outside Ireland. Green you see everywhere; yellow and blue much less.
We have the twelve-year-old Yellow Spot and the cask-strength Blue Spot at well over fifty-eight percent. Not sure which one you need? Give us a call. That is what we are here for.
The two bottles
Yellow stands for twelve years, blue for seven at cask strength.

The Spot whiskeys are from Mitchell & Son of Dublin, a family business now in its seventh generation. They are distilled at Midleton in County Cork; Mitchell determines the composition and the maturation.
The name comes from the cellars under Dublin where Mitchell kept his casks. Each cask received a dot of paint indicating how long it would stay: blue for seven years, green for ten, yellow for twelve and red for fifteen.
Yellow Spot disappeared from the market for decades and returned in May 2012, composed on the basis of data from the company archive. Blue Spot followed in November 2020, at cask strength and without chill filtration. Yellow Spot matures in bourbon casks, Spanish sherry butts and Malaga casks.
The colour on the label was once simply a dot of paint on the cask.
