Named after a national park
- Yellowstone in four facts
- 1872the brand is born; in that same year Yellowstone National Park opens.
- J.B. Dantbottles the first batch; Taylor & Williams brings it to market.
- the sixtiesYellowstone is then the best-selling bourbon in Kentucky.
- 2015the Beam brothers of Limestone Branch get the brand back.
Yellowstone came into being in 1872, the year in which Yellowstone National Park opened as the first national park of the United States. J.B. Dant bottled the first batch at his distillery near Gethsemane in Kentucky; the Louisville trading house that would later be called Taylor & Williams brought it to market.
The brand survived Prohibition because it could be sold as medicinal whiskey on prescription, and afterwards grew into the best-selling bourbon of Kentucky in the sixties. After that it changed owners several times.
Since 2015, Yellowstone has been at Limestone Branch in Lebanon, Kentucky, the distillery that the brothers Stephen and Paul Beam started in 2011. Every year one Limited Edition appears, put together by Stephen Beam and bottled at one hundred and one proof.
A brand from 1872, named after a park that opened that same year.
