From gift bottle to small bottle
Bottega is first and foremost a gift brand: the golden bottle does the work without you having to explain anything. But the piccolos are at least as useful: 20 cl is exactly two glasses, handy for a drink for two or as a small gift.
In between are the regular prosecco and a sweet moscato. Not sure which one you need? Give us a call. That is what we are here for.
Two 20 cl piccolos
Prosecco, champagne or cava?
- The difference in brief
- ProseccoItaly, glera grape, second fermentation in a tank.
- ChampagneFrance, second fermentation in the bottle itself.
- CavaSpain, also second fermentation in the bottle.
- CrémantFrench, from outside Champagne, also made by the bottle method.
All bubbles come from a second fermentation, but where it takes place makes the difference. With prosecco it happens in a large steel tank. That is faster, keeps the wine fresh and fruity (pear, apple, white flowers) and keeps the price low.
With champagne and cava the wine ferments a second time in the bottle itself, on the lees. That takes longer and gives that typical note of bread and brioche, with finer bubbles.
Neither is better; they are for different things. Prosecco is a pleasant aperitif sparkler and the base of a spritz. Champagne is what you set aside for when there is something to celebrate.
A 20 cl piccolo is two glasses. Ideal if opening a whole bottle seems a waste to you.
The regular bottles
Prosecco, a vintage bubbly and a sweet moscato.

Eight bottles, from 4.99 to 79.99 euro.
What is a piccolo?
A 20 cl bottle, just enough for two glasses. Handy for a drink for two or as a small gift.
What is the difference between prosecco and champagne?
Where the second fermentation takes place. For prosecco in a steel tank, which keeps it fresh and fruity; for champagne in the bottle itself, which gives notes of bread and brioche and finer bubbles.
Which Bottega is best suited as a gift?
The Gold. That golden bottle does the job without you having to explain anything.
What do you use prosecco for?
As an aperitif and as the base for a spritz. For a festive moment at the table you are better off looking at champagne or a crémant.
