Yellow Spot 12 Years Old alongside Arturo Fuente Don Carlos No. 4
An Irish whiskey of twelve years at 46 percent alcohol by volume, next to a slim Dominican corona. Apple and custard against nut and pepper.

From the shelf
The bottle
Yellow Spot is a twelve-year-old Irish whiskey, at 46 percent ABV. The colour is straw yellow. The nose is mild, with apple, wood notes, toffee, vanilla and nuts; on the palate full, with dried fruit, apple and custard, and a full finish with nuts and soft fruit.
The combination
Why this works together
The Don Carlos No. 4 is a corona of 143 mm under a Cameroon wrapper. That wrapper is spicy without sharp pepper and gives nut rather than earth. That nuttiness runs in step with the nuts in the whiskey, while the spice lifts out its custard sweetness. At 46 per cent ABV the bottle has enough weight to carry that spice.
Beside the glass
The cigar
We do not sell cigars; we supply the whisky. These cigars go well alongside this bottle.

- Arturo Fuente Don Carlos No. 4 Dominican corona of 143 mm under a Cameroon wrapper: nutty and spicy alongside apple and custard.
- Davidoff Millennium Blend Robusto Robusto of 127 mm, shorter and sturdier, with more pepper to counter the sweetness.
- Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 1 Cuban corona gorda of 143 mm with sweeter wood, closer to toffee.
- Montecristo Petit Edmundo Petit robusto of 110 mm with cocoa, for a shorter moment.
In the glass
Serving
Neat in a tulip-shaped glass. At 46 percent by volume a few drops of water bring the apple fruit forward. Drink each time after the smoke has left the mouth.
