Glenmorangie 12 Years Old The Lasanta alongside H. Upmann Magnum 46
A Highland malt with sherry finish next to a dry Cuban corona gorda. Toffee and raisin against wood and nut.

From the shelf
The bottle
Glenmorangie is in the Highlands. This bottling is twelve years old, received a finish in sherry casks and is at 43 percent by volume. The nose brings toffee, ginger and raisins; on the palate honey, warm spices, oranges, currants and raisins, with a long, soft finish.
The combination
Why this works together
The Magnum 46 is a corona gorda of 143 mm with a moderate thickness: long enough to carry on calmly, not so wide that the smoke becomes heavy. H. Upmann is dry and nutty by nature. Because the sherry finish here only colours the outside of the whisky and the core stays soft, a cigar that adds dryness suits better than one that is sweet itself.
Beside the glass
The cigar
We do not sell cigars; we supply the whisky. These cigars go well alongside this bottle.

- H. Upmann Magnum 46 Cuban corona gorda of 143 mm, dry and nutty, set against the toffee and raisin of the sherry finish.
- Quai d’Orsay No. 50 Petit robusto of 110 mm, shorter and more floral, for those who want to keep the whisky in front.
- Davidoff Winston Churchill The Late Hour Robusto Robusto of 127 mm with a sweeter woody note that matches the honey.
- Romeo y Julieta Wide Churchill Short, thick size of 130 mm with more body, for when the smoke may be more noticeable.
In the glass
Serving
Neat in a tulip-shaped glass. At 43 percent by volume water is usually not needed. Drink in the pauses between puffs, not during them.
