Teeling 15 Years Old Single Grain next to Davidoff Aniversario No. 3
An Irish single grain of fifteen years at 50 percent ABV, alongside a Dominican toro. Wine-cask finish against wood and cream.

From the shelf
The bottle
Teeling is based in Dublin. This single grain is distilled from ninety-five percent maize and five percent malted barley, is fifteen years old, matured in ex-bourbon casks with a finish in sauvignon blanc casks from Bordeaux and is 50 percent ABV. It is bottled unfiltered. The bottling dates from 2023.
The combination
Why this works together
A toro of 152 mm is long and moderately thick; the smoke therefore stays even for a long time and only becomes fuller at the end. Davidoff works with a light wrapper that gives wood and cream instead of pepper. Grain whiskey is naturally softer and sweeter than malt, and the white wine casks lay a fresh, dry layer over it. A peppery cigar would push that difference away; this one leaves it intact.
Beside the glass
The cigar
We do not sell cigars; we supply the whisky. These cigars go well alongside this bottle.

- Davidoff Aniversario No. 3 Dominican toro of 152 mm, wood and cream without sharp pepper, set beside the wine-cask finish.
- Davidoff Millennium Blend Robusto Robusto of 127 mm from the same house, shorter and with more body.
- AVO Syncro Nicaragua Robusto Robusto with Nicaraguan tobacco in the filler, peppery and fuller-bodied.
- Macanudo Café Hyde Park Mild robusto with wood and cream, for those who want to keep the whiskey even further in front.
In the glass
Serving
Neat in a tulip-shaped glass. At 50 percent ABV this bottle is robust; a few drops of water bring out the fresh side of the wine casks. Drink it in the pauses between puffs.
