Why here

From fifteen euros to thirty years old

Few brands cover such a wide span. The standard blend costs fifteen euros and is fine for everyday drinking or mixing; the thirty-year-old 1561 Grand Reserve sits at the other end of the shelf.

In between are a sherry finish, an eight-year-old and two single malts under the name Majesty, one of which is twenty-one years old. Not sure which one you need? Give us a call. That's what we're here for.

About the brand

A queen who went to France at thirteen

  • Where the name comes from
  • 1542Mary Stuart becomes Queen of Scotland as a baby of six days.
  • 1548She is sent to the French court.
  • 1561As a widow she returns to Scotland. That year is on the bottle.
  • 1587She is executed in England.

Highland Queen is named after Mary, Queen of Scots. She became queen in 1542 when she was six days old, grew up at the French court and returned in 1561 as a young widow to a country she barely knew. That year appears on the bottles of the series of the same name.

The brand itself is a blend: malt and grain whisky from several distilleries, brought together as one. There is also the Majesty range, which features single malt from the Highlands.

What makes the range interesting is its spread. A blend at fifteen euros and a thirty-year-old from the same stable: that is rare.

Mary Stuart spoke French, not Scots, when she came ashore at Leith in 1561.
