Why here

The whole range together

Islay Mist is one of the few blends in which the smoke really plays the lead role. We have seven bottles on the shelf: the regular one, the Double Peated, a manzanilla finish and the ten-, twelve-, seventeen- and twenty-one-year-olds.

If you are not sure which one you need, give us a quick call. That is what we are here for.

About the brand

A blend around Laphroaig

  • Islay Mist in four facts
  • 1927the year the blend came about.
  • Laphroaigthe core of the composition.
  • 1992MacDuff International takes over the brand.
  • 2025MacDuff merges with InchDairnie.

Islay Mist originated in 1927. Sources differ on who was there at its cradle: the company's own website names John Morrison, later Lord Margadale, for whose twenty-first birthday the blend is said to have been made; other sources point to Ian Hunter, then owner of Laphroaig. We would rather name them both than choose.

What all sources agree on: the core of the blend is Laphroaig, supplemented with malt from the Highlands and Speyside and grain whisky from the Lowlands. Which distilleries exactly is not disclosed.

Since 1992 the brand has been owned by MacDuff International; that company merged with the InchDairnie distillery on 1 May 2025.

A blend in which the smoke of Islay sets the tone rather than staying in the background.
