Ian Macleod & Co was founded in 1933. The Isle of Skye blend is meant as a tribute to Clan MacLeod, which has been associated with that island since the fourteenth century. Since 1963 the company has been owned by the Russell family.
Isle of Skye combines malt from Speyside with malt from the islands. Exactly which distilleries those are is not disclosed; it is often assumed that an island malt sits at the heart of it, but that is not confirmed. We leave it at that.
The range runs from eight to fifty years. We have six ages in stock, up to and including the thirty-year-old.

Does Isle of Skye come from the island of Skye?
No. It is a blend put together and bottled by Ian Macleod Distillers in Broxburn. The name is a tribute to clan MacLeod.
Which whisky is in it?
Malt from Speyside and the islands, topped up with grain whisky. The exact composition is not disclosed.

Ian Macleod Distillers, owned by the Russell family since 1963.
