Finished in Japanese cedar
Almost all whisky matures in oak. Kamiki finishes in casks of yoshino-sugi, the Japanese cedar from the area around Nara. That gives an aroma you recognise immediately and will not find anywhere else on the shelf.
We have all three variants in stock. Mind the bottle size: 50 cl, not 70. If you are not sure which one you need, give us a call. That is what we are here for.
The bottles
Three variants, all three at 48 percent.
What is in the bottle
- Kamiki in four facts
- Narathe brand comes from the village of Soni in Nara Prefecture.
- Yoshino-sugiJapanese cedar, used for the finish.
- 48%the bottling strength of all three bottles.
- 50 clthe bottle size.
Kamiki comes from Soni in Nara Prefecture, where the company has fitted out a house from the Meiji period that is well over a hundred years old. The water comes from the highlands of Soni.
The whisky first matures in oak and is then finished in casks of yoshino-sugi, the Japanese cedar from the region. That is unusual: cedar is softer and more aromatic than oak and puts a clear stamp on the nose.
What is in it, the brand itself tells us: Kamiki is a blended malt in which Japanese malt whisky is combined with malt whisky from elsewhere in the world. So it is not a whisky distilled entirely in Japan, and that is good to know before you buy it. We think it is a lovely bottle, but we don’t call it something it isn’t.
Cedar instead of oak, and a blend of Japanese and foreign malt.
Frequently asked questions about Kamiki
How many Kamiki does ’t Bockje have in stock?
Three different bottles: the regular Blended Malt, Intense Wood and Sakura Wood. All three are available at the moment.
Is Kamiki entirely Japanese whisky?
No. The brand itself says that it combines Japanese malt whisky with malt whisky from elsewhere in the world. The maturation and finishing take place in Japan.
What is yoshino-sugi?
Japanese cedar from the Yoshino region in Nara Prefecture. Kamiki uses casks made from it for the finish, after a first maturation in oak.
Why is the bottle 50 cl?
That is the size Kamiki uses. Keep that in mind if you compare prices with 70 cl bottles.
Can I reserve a bottle and collect it in Bathmen?
