Why here

Five beer casks and three times Wonders of Wood

Besides the standard range, Teeling makes a long row of collaborations. On our shelf are five bottles on beer casks (Duvel, amber ale, dark porter, India pale ale) and three editions from Wonders of Wood, the series in which the house experiments with types of wood.

There are also two twenty-one-year-old bottles from the Rising Reserve, a thirty-year-old 1991 vintage and a single cask selected for the Dutch importer Bresser & Timmer. Not sure which one to choose? Give us a call. That's what we're here for.

The core range

Four bottles that set the four Irish styles side by side: blend, grain whisky, single malt and single pot still. All at 46 percent, except the grain whisky.

About the distillery

The first new distillery in Dublin in 125 years

  • Teeling in four moments
  • 1782Walter Teeling starts a distillery on Marrowbone Lane in Dublin.
  • 1987John Teeling founds Cooley.
  • 2014The first new copper stills in more than 125 years arrive in Dublin.
  • 2015The distillery on Newmarket Square opens.

Dublin was once the centre of Irish whiskey, with dozens of distilleries within the city limits. In the end nothing of them remained. When Jack and Stephen Teeling opened their distillery on Newmarket Square in 2015, it was the first new whiskey distillery in the city in well over a hundred and twenty-five years. In December 2014 the first copper stills arrived. That too had not happened in Dublin for more than a century.

The family name goes back further. Walter Teeling started a distillery on Marrowbone Lane in 1782, within walking distance of where the current one stands; the spot was chosen there on purpose. The phoenix on the label refers to that same return. Father John Teeling founded Cooley in 1987, so the family also lived through the previous Irish revival.

The regular range puts the four Irish styles side by side: a blend, a grain whiskey, a single malt and a single pot still. Everything goes into the bottle unfiltered and, with one exception, at 46 percent. In addition the house experiments openly, with beer casks, wine casks and types of wood you rarely come across in Ireland.

In December 2014 new copper stills arrived in Dublin for the first time in over a century.
