Why here

Seven cask strengths and three seventeen-year-olds

The Irishman Cask Strength appears in a limited run and is gone afterwards. We have four vintages of it in stock (2016, 2022, 2023 and 2024), plus three seventeen-year-old bottles, two of them with vintage and cask number on the label. You rarely see this much of this range together.

Alongside that, the standard bottles from 33.99 euros and two cask finishes: a marsala cask from Florio and an oloroso cask. Not sure which one you need? Just give us a call. That is what we are here for.

The Irishman comes from Walsh Whiskey, the company that Bernard and Rosemary Walsh started in 1999 and that is based in County Carlow, Ireland. The same house makes Writers’ Tears; anyone who knows that bottle knows the approach.

Where Writers’ Tears centres on the combination of single pot still and single malt, the emphasis at The Irishman is on single malt and on age. On our shelf are three bottles of seventeen years, of which two as a single cask with vintage and cask number.

The Cask Strength is the range collectors look at. One release each year, bottled undiluted at between 54 and 56 percent, and not available again afterwards. We have four vintages of it.

Two brands, one house: Writers’ Tears and The Irishman both come from Carlow.
