Why here

Nine bottlers on the same distillery

Tullibardine is a distillery from which independent bottlers like to buy casks. We have nine, from Claxton’s, Signatory, The Ultimate, Infrequent Flyers, The Octave, The Firkin, Murray McDavid and Hogshead. Side by side they show how much the cask matters with the same distillate.

Alongside is the standard range from 34.99 euro, with the 225, the 228 and the 500 (three bottles that differ only in their cask finish), plus a 15, an 18 and the Murray at cask strength. If you are not sure which one you need, give us a call. That is what we are here for.

The core range

Four bottles at 43 percent: the Sovereign as the starting point and three cask finishes alongside.

About the distillery

Eight years idle, then back in action

  • 2003New owners are starting the distillery up again.
  • 2011The French Picard Vins & Spiritueux buys the house.

Tullibardine is in Blackford in Perth and Kinross and was built in 1949. In 1995 then-owner Whyte & Mackay halted production. For eight years nothing happened; in 2003 Tullibardine Distillery Ltd bought the place and distilling resumed.

Since 2011 the owner has been the French Picard Vins & Spiritueux, which in 2013 set up a separate branch for spirits under the name Terroirs Distillers. The fact that a wine house is the owner explains part of the attention to wine casks in the range.

That eight-year standstill is also the reason so many bottlers work with Tullibardine: vintages from after 2003 are plentiful, and distilleries that are not tied to one big brand find it easier to sell on individual casks.

Eight years of standstill, and then a distillery that bottlers like to buy casks from.

Frequently asked questions about Tullibardine

How much Tullibardine does ’t Bockje have in stock?

Seventeen different bottles, nine of them from independent bottlers. All seventeen are currently available.

Where is Tullibardine located?

In Blackford, in Perth and Kinross. The distillery was built in 1949, was silent from 1995 to 2003 and has been running again since.

What is the difference between the 225, the 228 and the 500?

The cask finish. The 225 goes onto sauternes casks, the 228 onto burgundy casks and the 500 onto sherry casks. The base and the bottling strength of 43 percent have been kept the same.

Who owns Tullibardine?

Since 2011 the French Picard Vins & Spiritueux, which in 2013 set up a separate branch for spirits under the name Terroirs Distillers.

Why are there so many bottlers with Tullibardine?

Because the distillery is not tied to one big brand and resells loose casks. As a result you come across vintages and ages that the house itself does not release, usually at cask strength.
