Ingredients

  • 4 bratwursts
  • 800 grams of sauerkraut
  • 1 onion
  • 1 apple
  • 1 kilo potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons of mustard

Method

  1. Peel the potatoes and boil them in salted water for 20 minutes until tender.
  2. Fry the chopped onion in butter, add the sauerkraut, the grated apple and a splash of water and braise everything, covered, for 20 minutes.
  3. Fry the bratwursts in butter over a medium-high heat for 15 to 20 minutes until browned all over and cooked through.
  4. Serve the sausage with the sauerkraut, the potatoes and the mustard.

  • 160 grams of Gruyère

Method

  1. Take the cheese out of the fridge about an hour before serving; that brings out the flavour best.
  2. Only cut or break the cheese just before serving.

  • 4 tablespoons of mustard

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  2. Sprinkle the pretzels with a little water and bake for 5 to 8 minutes until crisp and warm.
  3. Serve with the mustard in a small bowl.
